Friday Fiver: Pieces of me

Does music help you write?

Yes. It helps me think and the creative juices flow.

What type of music do you listen to while writing?

It depends on my mood and what I am writing. I like variety though and have over 7000 albums so am always listening to something new.

What inspire you to write?

Music helps a lot but also reading about things happening in the world, reading other people's work and thinking 'wow, I wish I had written this' or sometimes thinking 'Wow, I can write better than this.'

Where do you get your ideas from?

I can't explain it. Sometimes they just pop into my head. I can be walking down the street and an idea can pop into my head.

Quote something you’ve written. Whatever pops into your head.

I’ve been the trophy wife
I’ve been the faithful lover
I’ve been everything you’ve wanted
Everything you hoped for
But it hasn’t been me

I’ve laughed and I’ve cried
I’ve danced and I’ve smiled
I’ve become so good at pretending
That no one sitting here in this café
Even realizes that I am dying inside.

Tonight I’m sitting on a train
Going to a place that I’ve never been
The images of my past
Pass me by
As I search my soul
For pieces of me
